In modern digital music, it is possible for the producer to be the only person involved in the creation of a musical recording. The said producer is entirely responsible for writing, performing, recording and arranging the material. To be able to do this effectively the producer needs knowledge not only of the software he is using, but also knowledge of the genre in which he is writing, and how music works as a language. The existence of such producers is, in some ways, challenging the role of the traditional recording studio in that feasibly, an entire album can be created and recorded from the producers home studio.
